Institution
The Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (UPVLC) – Technical University of Valencia – was established in 1972. The UPVLC is a public institution with legal entity and its own patrimony, and has financial and academic autonomy under the complex regulations and restrictions of the Spanish university law. The UPVLC is dedicated to research and teaching that keeps strong bonds with the social environment, the UPVLC has an important presence abroad.
At the UPVLC, the Centre for the Study of Higher Education Management (CEGES) is working on the analysis, research and promotion of new models for higher education management. In addition, training at all levels within the organisational structure is developed for present and future higher education managers.
Involved
The research group at CEGES has a wide knowledge in relation to its role in the project. This centre participates in national and international projects and contracts within the Higher Education Research Area, related to the analysis of higher education institutions and higher education systems. The centre is developing three projects related to the project of this proposal: 1.- The Flexible Professional in the Knowledge Society. New Demands on Higher Education in Europe (REFLEX). A project supported by the EU 6th Framework Programme. 2.- Competences, Education and Labour Market. Project supported by the National Plan of Research, Ministry of Education of Spain. 3.- Monitoraggio dei processi di armonizzazione dei sistemi d'istruzione terziaria nei paesi dell'U.E. con specifico riferimento ai raccordi con la riforma degli ordinamenti didattici italiani. Project supported by the Italian Ministry of University and Scientific and Technological Research (MURST). Prof. Dr. Prof. Dr. José-Ginés Mora is the Director of the Centre for Higher Education Management (CEGES) at the UPVLC.
Bologna and NQF
The Technical University of Valencia is actively seeking for a comprehensive and sustainable implementation of the Bologna process. The university is currently implementing, via its vice- rectory for European Studies and Convergence, an Action Plan for European Convergence (PACE). PACE consists of 17 projects developed transversally at the vice- rectory level, at specific university centres and at the Institute of Education Sciences. They include teaching guides and pilot projects for competencies- based curricula and ECTS adoption.
Role and Expectations
By participating in this project, the Technical University of Valencia will contribute in the identification and analysis of good practices in designing and implementing QF in Europe. At the UPVLC a pilot project on QF will be developed within the framework of the NQF design.
